The compositional elements my collage illustrates best are a combination of balance and variety with elements of repetition (harmony). The two figures on either side of the composition, although very different in terms of weight-- the heavy stature of the grandmother next to the more subtle, small size of the infant-- balance each other out, particularly since the infant incorporates color and texture. I think these elements of the right side of my collage compensate for, and balance out, the thick, weighty figure on the left.The variety of paper textures, color, and markings on the child make her appear to be in the foreground while the darker figure recedes to the back of the composition, which is how the original shot was set up.
Lastly, my collage uses repetition with the texts in the background.
